Virgil Van Dijk to Liverpool looks like it is back on. The club has made its peace with the Saints and they look like they are now prepared to do business with Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool. The pursuit of Van Dijk feels like it has been a never ending story. I am not sure if many remember the films of the same name from the early 90’s. The big white creature in it used to frighten the bejaysus out of me. There is little doubt that Liverpool are getting a top notch defender in Van Dijk, my only worry is continue reading

The 2013 summer transfer window will open on July 1st and close at the end of August 31.
So this summer is being called Liverpool’s summer of intent by those in media circles. Liverpool have already signed Egyptian international Mohammad Salah from Roma for a fee in the region of €31 million and, depending on who you listen to, the club look set to break their current transfer record at least twice more this season. According to the ever reliable ITK’s on Twitter, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is tired of the FSG policy of buying young and trying to develop players in to world beaters, and wants players who can come in and have an instant impact on continue reading
Liverpool have been chasing Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk for the last six or so months, this is no secret. At the start of this month, people on Twitter claimed the deal was done and Liverpool were happy to pay the £60 million Southampton demanded for their player. As the saga dragged on, Southampton threw a spanner in to the transfer saga by reporting Liverpool to the FA for tapping up Van Dijk. This caused Liverpool to put a halt to their plans to sign the Dutch defender. Embed from Getty Images This, as you would expect caused uproar on continue reading
Woohoo, the summer transfer window is now in full swing and Liverpool, much to the disgust of their fans, have made one signing: Dominic Solanke. Who I hear you ask? Only the player of the tournament in the recent U-20 World Cup. Hardly the start to the window fans were expecting, when you consider Virgil Van Dijk was a done deal a few weeks ago and was expected to be doing The Lean instead of promoting the new Southampton kit. Mohamed Salah was another deal allegedly done weeks ago, and was going to be the second player this summer arriving continue reading
After weeks of speculation and false hope, the transfer of Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Liverpool has gone from a dead cert to an unlikely event, as it’s looking increasingly likely that the player will join Borussia Dortmund. So after we’ve finished being disappointed about a player that only a handful of people had heard of, and only two people had actually seen play football regularly, the rumour mill begins to churn out transfer targets yet again. Below are some realistic and unrealistic alternatives to the Armenian enigma, with a wildcard thrown in at the end for good measure. Miralem Pjanic – continue reading
There’s one in every January transfer window, and if there isn’t one you can be sure that the media and internettwitterblogosphere will create one. Philippe Coutinho has been whispered about as a transfer target for Liverpool FC throughout most of the transfer window, but now – to roughly quote the lyrics from an early Radiohead song – they’ve stopped whispering, and started shouting. James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo effectively declared it a done deal in his boldly headlined article on Liverpool’s second January signing. Philippe Coutinho – Style of Play He’s a player who has developed the ability to continue reading
German tabloid Bild is reporting that there is a 99% chance that Nuri Sahin will return to Borussia Dortmund this January, just six months after he joined Liverpool on loan from Real Madrid. The Turkish international is still under contract with Real Madrid, but it appears that his loan contract with Liverpool could be terminated this January if all parties agree, leaving the door open for Sahin to transfer elsewhere. Sahin was voted Bundesliga player of the season in 2010/11, as he helped Borussia Dortmund to the league title. He also has a La Liga title to his name with Real Madrid, but he continue reading
It appeared that Joe Cole would be leaving Liverpool this January and heading for QPR, but now it seems another London club are in the running for his signature. West Ham are now rumoured to be signing the attacking midfielder, who has found it difficult to make an impact at Liverpool. Cole recently scored against his former club in the game between the two sides at the Boleyn Ground, and it seems he impressed their manager Sam Allardyce enough to convince him that he could use Cole in his side, as the Hammers look to consolidate themselves as a strong continue reading
According to various sources, including the Telegraph, the Times, and RMC radio in France, Liverpool are looking to bring in young French centre back Nicolas Isimat-Mirin in the January transfer window. Newcastle are also rumoured to be interested in the player, but he’s thought to prefer a move to Liverpool as the reds search for more cover at centre back. With Carragher reaching the end of his career, and Sebastian Coates falling out of favour, Brendan Rodgers looks to bring in a player with the potential to be a first team regular in years to come. Isimat-Mirin is contracted with his continue reading
Throughout all the rumours and subsequent news of Liverpool FC signing Daniel Sturridge, one other name has kept popping up as possible “back-up” should the deal collapse. The name is that of French forward, Kevin Gameiro. Gameiro signed for his current club, Paris Saint-Germain, in the summer of 2011 as their wealthy new owners went on a spending spree. Gameiro cost the club around 12m Euros, and scored 11 goals in 34 league starts during the 2011/12 season. But in the summer of 2012, the club again went on a mass spending spree backed by their rich owners from Qatar, continue reading
