Mission Accomplished as Liverpool Secure Top Four Finish

Listen very very carefully and you might hear the faint noise of Liverpool fans co-existing in relative harmony on social media. That’s because our final day win over Middlesbrough, securing fourth spot, meant that we weren’t busy ripping each other, FSG, Jurgen Klopp, James Milner or the referee to shreds. This oddly unsettling consensus probably won’t last long with transfer season around the corner and no doubt the knives will be whipped out again, but until then let’s try to embrace the weirdness. Woeful Wednesday as Liverpool Buckle Under Bournemouth Pressure

Wednesday turned out to be woeful for Liverpool football club. After being slapped with a two year academy transfer ban for breaching Premier League rules regarding a schoolboy from Stoke, Liverpool then learned that talisman, Sadio Mané’s season is almost certainly over. The Senegalese may require surgery on damaged cartilage in his left knee, which has left Klopp with a massive gap to fill for the remainder of the season. Liverpool's top 6 record remains intact as Arsenal are sunk at Anfield

Liverpool 3, Arsenal 1 Match report by Umarah Naz. It’s never usually the case that a resounding 3-1 win over Arsenal would leave Reds infuriated but that’s what some may be feeling. Embed from Getty Images Infuriated because it comes a mere five days after a crushing defeat against a struggling Leicester team; one of those teams that Liverpool are so generously charitable against. Beating Arsenal should really be the perfect remedy for such fresh wounds but, unfortunately, it’s all been seen before, thus leaving everyone with a sense of dejavu. Just a few weeks ago, a fantastic win over continue reading

Sadio returns as LFC stop the rot: Liverpool 1, Chelsea 1

By Umarah Naz. A draw versus Chelsea at any other time of the season wouldn’t be such an unwelcome result, but Tuesday’s clash at Anfield was a must win for Liverpool if they wanted to have any say in the title race. Embed from Getty Images As it stands, a point isn’t enough, all things considered. Liverpool’s only saving grace was that Arsenal unexpectedly lost to Watford whilst Tottenham drew with Sunderland, leaving Liverpool in a healthy position for that all important Champions League spot. With games against Spurs, Arsenal and Manchester City coming up, Liverpool’s top four destiny is continue reading

After a fantastic entertaining opening game of the season for Liverpool, this piece looks at with the preferred formation of 4-3-3 in its simplest form. I ask the question: Is the current midfield balance correct to fit Liverpool’s strengths and weaknesses? On Sunday, Liverpool started with a midfield three of Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana.  Henderson played as the deepest of the three, and in my view put in a decent performance. He used his athleticism to get him into positions to break up play, and he used the ball intelligently when in possession. Embed from Getty Images continue reading
