Liverpool Broken by Benteke Brace as Sakho Celebrates - Liverpool 1, Crystal Palace 2

By Umarah Naz As Liverpool succumbed to Crystal Palace at Anfield (again!), it was a case of which centre-back infuriated us the most. As much as Sakho giving LFC the proverbial slap in the face irked many, it was our own flaws that lost us the game. Embed from Getty Images   Detracting from them by concentrating on the poor judgement of an exiled player could be described as poor form. Safe to say, Sakho’s not coming continue reading

Liverpool Tactical Overview & Analysis of Crystal Palace 1, Liverpool 2

Since the return of Daniel Sturridge, Liverpool have been playing with a similar formation, and one which only changes subtly due to the personnel in it. Prior to the English striker’s return, Roberto Firmino had replaced Christian Benteke as the striker as Jurgen Klopp sought more movement up front, both on and off the ball. Firmino offers pressing from the front – a prerequisite in Klopp’s system – as well as being more mobile in attack. The Brazilian showed surprisingly good hold-up play, outshining Benteke even in this area, while also being able to run into the channels, play on continue reading

Had made an earlier error when he came out of his box to head the ball clear, but instead headed it sideways into the path of a Bordeaux attacked. Made a good intervention later on when Saivet sent in another stinging free kick from outside the area. Nathaniel Clyne continue reading

Liverpool 1, Bournemouth 0 Anfield, Liverpool (44,102) Liverpool scorer: Benteke 26′ Player Ratings Simon Mignolet – 6 Had little to do when it came to meaningful saves, but looked safe when it came to stopping the odd shot. *Nathaniel Clyne – 7 A dynamic presence on the pitch in both attack and defence. Was pivotal to the team’s attacking play as he provided the outlet on the right once Coutinho had drifted inside. Played the return ball to Henderson in the build-up to Liverpool’s goal.
